COMMUNITY-LED SERVICES GROUNDED IN CULTURE
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (CDP)
Language Hub Wubuy Revitalisation

At Numburindi Development Aboriginal Corporation, we are dedicated to supporting our community through a broad range of social and wellbeing services.

From mental health support and restorative initiatives to youth programs, education, and cultural pathways, NDAC works alongside community members to create opportunities that strengthen families and build a resilient future for Numbulwar.

Our approach is locally designed, culturally grounded, and holistic; ensuring services meet real community needs and create ripple effects of wellbeing, opportunity, and self-determination across generations.

We recognise that every individual and family in our community has unique needs and aspirations. NDAC works closely with Roper Gulf Regional Council, who currently deliver the Community Development Program (CDP), to ensure employment pathways for Numburindi people are supported and achieved.

The CDP is a national program that helps job seekers in remote Australia build skills, overcome barriers to employment, and contribute to their communities through training and meaningful activities. In Numbulwar,
NDAC supports this work by aligning it with our Local Decision-Making Strategy and Business Plan, ensuring that opportunities connect with cultural leadership, language, education, and sustainable employment pathways.

Through collaboration with RGRC and other stakeholders, NDAC is committed to shaping a future where every pathway leads to greater wellbeing, cultural pride, and long-term community benefit.

NDAC’s Language Hub is at the heart of revitalising Wubuy language and strengthening cultural identity for future generations. Through ILA funding, the Wubuy Dictionary revitalisation work will be completed, preserving knowledge and providing a strong foundation for language learning in Numbulwar.

Alongside this, the Language Hub delivers Certificate III and IV in Australian Languages, creating pathways for community members to become qualified language teachers.
This ensures students in Numbulwar can learn directly from local voices, while building opportunities for adult learning, cultural engagement, and meaningful employment.

Guided by NDAC’s Strategic Plan and Local Decision-Making framework, the Language Hub connects education, employment, and culture. It is more than a program; it is an intergenerational pathway that honours Elders, builds community pride, and embeds Wubuy language at the centre of Numburindi futures.
